God’s mission has been the same from the beginning. It is to reconcile us back to him and have a relationship with us. That’s love speaking. Love is having healthy relationships with others, offering practical help or emotional support whenever someone needs it. That is who God is too. He is there to offer practical help and emotional support when we need it. We just have to be attuned to his ways and spiritual prompting to see him at work.
How does God help?
I have a few stories to tell… I will start with one to end the year.
1) During the 3rd trimester of my 3rd pregnancy, I received an impression from God that this labour will be a very different experience from my first two in that I will give birth without epidural (I had epidural for my first two.) When I felt that impression, I was overwhelmed with fear because I remembered how labour pains felt, and I didn’t think I would tolerate the pain.
When the Lord spoke, I knew it would happen, so I did my part by asking friends who had given birth without epidural about their experience, and looking up YouTube videos on hynobirthing techniques. Prayed through it and felt peace.
The 3rd pregnancy turned out vastly different because it was a preterm one. True enough, epidural was not an option because the first protocol of the hospital was to stop the contractions and keep the baby in my uterus. In addition, no one knew whether the baby was going to come out or stay in, so epidural could not be administered.
However, the pain was bearable this time, and on hindsight, it was due to the physiotherapy exercises and deep breathing I had been doing for my pelvic pain since 2nd trimester. My body was already conditioned to manage labour pains when it hit.
Praise God for his preparation way ahead of time. He prepared me mentally, spiritually and physically.
My daughter was born at 31+ weeks. We don’t know what caused her spontaneous birth, but she was able to breathe on her own after 2 days in NICU, and she was transferred to step-down care. She was healthy, no major issues despite her early birth. She’s now 3 and very healthy.
I think God was relieving me of my pelvic pain and I sought chiropractic help after I gave birth. How I made the choice to seek a chiropractor is another story to tell. Till the next post.
Happy New Year to everyone. It is my prayer and hope that people will be encouraged by the stories of God’s goodness and have the desire to find their own stories with God.
